Duration: 90 minutes
As photographers, we express ourselves visually through our photographs and may find the thought of expressing ourselves through writing – especially writing about our work – painful, or a potentially daunting task. There may come a time, however, where you don’t have a choice because a photographer’s resume or artist statement may be required for an exhibition; or you may need one or the other to apply for admission into a visual arts program, a teaching position, a grant or they are needed for some other reason.
Writing your photographer’s resume and artist statement does not have to be a painful process. In this workshop, you will learn:
- What a photographer’s resume, artist statement, and biography is and why each is necessary
- What to include in your photographer’s resume, artist statement, and biography
- What to do if you don’t have enough information to create a photographer’s resume
- Specific tips for building up your photographer’s resume
- How to compose a photographer’s resume, artist statement, and biography
- Why each will evolve over time
Requirements: Please bring a pen and paper for notes. A handout will also be provided.
